Troubleshooting Surface Docking Station

without comments

If you own a Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book you probably ran into an issue while using your external monitor on the Surface Docking Station 4. There are quite a lot of forum threads about issues where the screen of the external monitor remains black when the Surface comes back from sleep. This situation could happen i.e. if your monitor is not 100% compatible with the Surface Docking Station. Microsoft has published a blog post which hints that.

But first of all you should:

  1. Install the lastest drivers & firmware for the Surface Device
  2. Install the latest driver for your monitor
  3. Use an active monitor adapter

Another common topic when it comes to Windows 10 and external monitors is the scaling. Check this link for an interesting read.
