Configuring Zimbra Desktop with a ZCS

without comments

For quite a while now I’ve tried to get Zimbra Desktop working with my Zimbra Collaboration Server (ZCS) but I couldn’t get it running. I’ve always received an error message saying: account.INVALID_ATTR_VALUE: zimbraPrefForwardIncludeOriginalText must be one of: …” for me just something like: $&%°!%!" so I left it for a while. But again I thought there must be a way to get it running and I investigated the issue.

After some time on Google I found a similar issue on the Zimbra forums which helped me to fix my problem.

I had to logon to the Linux server where Zimbra is installed and change the user context to the zimbra user. Then just enter:

zimbra@zim:~$ zmprov mc default zimbraPrefForwardIncludeOriginalText   includeBody
zimbra@zim:~$ zmprov mc default zimbraPrefReplyIncludeOriginalText  includeBody

and the missing fields in the Zimbra LDAP will be fixed. zmprov is a tool which performs provisioning tasks on the Zimbra LDAP directory. The parameter mc modifies settings in the COS (Class of Service). If you change the setting in the COS is will be the default for all users on the server. There is also a way to modify only a dedicated user. For further information just check this article in the forums.
