Zimbra: Hello world!
For a long time I was running Mail Enable, a Windows based mail server application for my private emails. Mail Enable is free when you just host a few domains on it but the disadvantage for me was that it’s just offering plain email services like SMTP and POP3, no calendar or task management. Since VMware acquired Zimbra at the beginning of this year I was thinking about a installation of their Zimbra Collaboration Server. Last week I’ve ordered a Vserver at Host Europe, to install Zimbra and already at Tuesday the delivered the login information. As the Vserver was preconfigured with a mail and web server I had to “clean” the machine before I could install ZCS. Today I finally got everything working and I’ve send and received my first email.

Talking about more
I’ve founded this blog back in April 2009 when I was working in a role as desktop specialist within VMWare and now, where I’m in another role I have a broader view. My new role as Solution Architect makes it possible that I’ve a deeper inside in several topics which are highly interesting and I want to share with you. In the future I’ll talk about more on this blog, more from the whole world of virtualization. Also I’ll do some changes on the WordPress theme. Stay tuned!
The way PCoIP works
I found a great read over at Brian Madden’s blog today. The article is about an email between Gabe Knuth and Warren Ponder at VMware + Randy Groves, CTO of Teradici. Gabe asked some questions about the process how PCoIP software works with the hardware version in regards to the GDI primitives, rendering and so on. The answer was quite technical and really interesting.
