How to bypass a proxy server?

16 April 2009 867 views Comments Christoph Harding

Loads of companies are using proxy servers to fasten or reduce web traffic and of course fo more other reason. When a proxy server is configured within the Windows/Internet Explorer settings this proxy server will also be used by the View client. This is good as long as the connection or security server is on the web and not in the LAN. But what if the server is on the local area network?

In this case you’ll need to let the View client know that it should bypass the proxy server. This will be configured in the Windows Registry. Just open the Windows Registry Editor and navigate to:

HKLM\Software\VMware, Inc.\VMware VDM\ . The new key which will be needed  must be named ProxyBypass and is from type Multi SZ. The value for the key is the hostname or IP address of the proxy server.

This option is available since VDM 2.1 and can also be configured with the ADM template files delivered with the View Connection Server installation .
